Hi, I'm Rebecca.
I'm a British travel writer and author with a passion for Greece — its islands, its culture and the slower side of travel.
A member of Travel Writers UK, I write for newspapers and magazines including The Telegraph, The Independent, Condé Nast Traveller and airline titles such as easyJet Traveller and Wizz Air, and I'm a guidebook author for Rough Guides and Lonely Planet. I started Life Beyond Borders in 2010, after living in Greece for two years where I first taught English.
Why "Life Beyond Borders"?
The site began in 2010, once I'd been in Greece a couple of years — and after a summer teaching in Cairo, Egypt. I fully intended to stay in Egypt, but my love of Greece drew me back.
Having fallen for the culture, language, sights and smells of the Hellenic world, I wanted to share it: the cultural differences I've observed, the beautiful places I've visited, and the people who've let me into their homes and hearts. But it doesn't stop there.

From crossing Canada by rail to the polar-bear capital of the world, to travelling across the USA in a Green Tortoise bus, to sailing from Europe to Hong Kong by container ship — you'll find stories here from my adventures worldwide.

My debut novel, Girl Gone Greek, is a fish-out-of-water story — one girl, one country, and the people she meets along the way. It's available on Amazon in digital and paperback.

I've taken part in book readings, literary festivals and regular public speaking, including presenting on cruise ships.
